The two-story All-Sports Fitness Complex and Bernhardt Student Wellness Center was part of a new master plan that added 100,000 square feet of athletic facilities to CCHS' campus. Located on the west corner of campus, the state-of-the-art facility is the centralized base for all Explorer students and athletes. The first floor features 18 Olympic training racks that are used by all athletic teams. Also home to former Explorers who are training during collegiate and professional off seasons. The second floor of the building is fully equipped with team locker rooms, coaches' offices, classrooms and a spinning room overlooking the length of the Explorers' football field. Exercise physiologist assist in guiding students to live a healthy lifestyle while safely achieving their fitness goals. The Wellness Center is home to physical education and health nutrition classes - promoting cardiovascular exercise and healthy lifestyle choices. The goal was to give students who are not part of the athletic program their own place to exercise without the intimidation of team athletes. The All-Sports Fitness Complex and Bernhardt Student Wellness Center is unrivaled by many other high school fitness centers in Miami- Dade and comparable to some Division I universities. This project was successfully managed and completed by Carlos de Mena and his team during his tenure at OHL-Arellano.
