The Imaging Relocation project in South Miami, FL was a 9,650 square foot renovation project. 1,400 square feet of the existing building consisted of lead lined structural demolition and reconstruction. The basis of this project was the installation of a Siemens 3.0T MRI and a Siemens 1.5T MRI, as well as provisions for a future MRI. Also included were four Ultrasound Rooms, two Mammography Rooms, and one Bone Density Room. The infrastructure scope of work included a new IT room inclusive of underground backbone runs and demolition of existing abandoned lines. The project location, adjacent to the employee entrance/garage and the hospital’s emergency room department, required significant coordination for demolition, deliveries, and shutdowns with the hospital’s facilities department. Due to power requirements of the two MRI machines, there was a week’s worth of night work to integrate two new 600 amp electrical panels as well as the need to temporarily back feed existing panels to maintain continued service to the hospital’s Prenatal ICU and Data Center/PBX. Major installation dates for the two magnets were maintained. 100& AHCA approval on the first attempt.
